Lactobacillus plantarum LPLDL (ECGC13110402) is a trademarked and patented naturally occurring strain (originally isolated from tomatoes) of the probiotic bacterial genus Lactobacillus.
LPLDL is a probiotic that supports cardiovascular health and provides a scientifically supported and clinically tested approach to reduce LDL cholesterol and systolic blood pressure levels by regulating the metabolism of bile salts.
Using ProBiotix’s OptiScreen® proprietary technology platform, LPLDL was discovered from a collection of over 4,000 microbial candidates based on its outstanding capacity to hydrolyse bile salts and reduce cholesterol. This activity is crucial for bacterial survival in the harsh conditions of the intestine and mediates LPLDL’s mechanism of action.

Elevated cholesterol, especially LDL cholesterol, alongside blood pressure are major cardiovascular disease risk factors. It is well accepted that by controlling such factors, up to 80% of cardiovascular diseases may be preventable. This leads to an increasing global need for a side effect free intervention like LPLDL that can help tackle cardiovascular diseases utilising a scientifically supported approach.
LPLDL is an industry recognised ingredient, and has been a runner up in multiple leading
industry awards within probiotic categories.
